Always interested in art, he earned his BFA degree at Wittenburg University,
Springfield, O. in 1954. Most of Bob's
early work was of wildlife art, a natural result of his interest in and
spending a great deal of time in the out-of-doors.
In 1983 he was named Ohio's Ducks Unlimited artist of the year, then doing
work for both other states and national
Ducks Unlimited. He was chosen to do the national poster for the
55th World's Championship Duck Calling Contest in
Stuttgart, Arkansas.
He has shown his work at such national shows as the "grandfather" of waterfowl
shows at the annual Easton
Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Maryland; the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition
in Charleston, S.C.; the Ward
Foundation Annual Artists and Carvers Exhibition in Salisbury, Md. and
Michigan Wildlife Habitat Foundation show in
Southfield, Mich. However, since 1985 Bob has branched out to many other
subjects. For example, he recently
completed a poster sponsored by the FAA and the Dept. of Agriculture for
use in all airports across the country and
some other lands to aid in reducing the serious problem of airplane and
bird collisions. He also has just completed a
large painting of the Rockwell Trout Club's lodge as they celebrated their
100th Anniversary. Most of his work now is
commission pieces.....folks tell him what they want and he paints it for
them.
Bob has immensely enjoyed doing both paintings and drawings of the homes,
boats, planes and businesses of his
customers for the past 10 years. Real estate agents have him do a
small painting of each house they sell for
presentation to their customers.
